2017 was a year of drifting. I first was approached by Mark ‘Sweeps’ Buckle in the beginning of the year and was asked to produce a video for their first drift event for the year The Spring Drift Matsuri. Truth be told I had never before this event attended or even filmed a drift event. I knew from watching previous videos and seeing photos from different events, I’d be in for a high octane visual and audio ride. I was not wrong.
I wasn’t sure what equipment to bring so I just brought loads! I ended up mostly using the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 on the Sony A7S as I wanted to get as close as possible to the action without standing on the track.
Not only were there a lot of vantage points there were also little events going in and around the venue, including a sweet RC drift track.
Absolutely loved this E-Type Jag mixing it up with the usual JDM and VAG cars.
Safe to say I wasn’t the only shooter here on the weekend. A lot of hard working shooters out there!
Overall, really liked shooting this type of event, although it is totally exhausting!
